A little about me:
Marissa is a Latina, two times #1 NY Times bestselling children’s book illustrator and author. She’s a 2016 graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where she received a BFA in Animation. She loves to illustrate stories that are overflowing with humor, wit, and totally out-there situations.
In her spare time, Marissa gets her illustration inspiration by wandering around natural science museums, watching super-cool dinosaur documentaries and playing with her two fat cats in Birmingham, UK.
Marissa is represented by Kelly Sonnack at Andrea Brown Literary Agency.

I WANT MY HAT BACK by Jon Klassen, WHO WET MY PANTS by Bob Shea and Zachariah OHora, and HIGH-FIVE by Adam Rubin and Daniel Salmieri.
Stories that are overflowing with humor, wit, and totally out-there situations; stories with tough and lovable female leads; STEM and STEAM (if there’s dinosaurs that’s even better!) driven stories.
I’m an avid gnome collector! I have 17 garden gnomes at the moment but I’m always on the prowl for more.
I used to be a preschool teacher! It’s a career that I miss every day and would love to go back to teaching later in my life.
I grew up in a pretty rural area of Texas and had a childhood pet sheep named Sheep.
